Annah's story

I am the third born in a family of eight children.I grew up in Eastern Kenya at a place called Mbooni.Life was very difficult while growing up because my parents were unemployed and raising up the big family was a big challenge. After high school i moved to Nairobi to live with my sister. I later on got a job and got married in 2003. I realized that my earnings could not adequately cater for the family needs and started my business in Huruma in 2004. However, my husband passed on in 2004 and left me as the sole breadwinner. This affected my business.
Currently i live in Huruma slum with my three children. I hope to have a better future where my business will grow so much that I may be able to cater for my needs and the needs of my children without much stress. Since my husband passed on I have continued with the business on my own and I feel this shows my entrepreneurial spirit.
