Nguyen Thi's story

T. Nguyen Thi is fifty-five years old and lives in the town of Hung Nguyen. She is married and has three grown children. To make a living, she owns and operates a business of raising livestock. The main source of income from the business comes from raising cattle for sale. T. has been engaged in this business for over seventeen years and earns approximately $140 a month from these activities. In 1997, T. joined the Kiva field partner, TYM Fund, to gain access to financial services that would help improve her living situation by giving her the ability to engage in business activities. T. has successfully repaid previous loans from TYM Fund. These loans were used to purchase livestock feed and other supplies. T. is now requesting a new loan that will be used to purchase baby livestock to raise and sell in the future. This loan will be her twelfth loan from TYM Fund. T. plans to use the loan to generate additional revenue, which will improve her business.
