A loan helped purchase stock for my business.

Jane's story

My name is Jane Thuku. I am 48 years old, a wife and a mother of 5 kids. I was born in Uasin Gishu District, turbo Tapsagoi location. I got married in the same village.

I went to school up to form 2. I dropped from school because my mother died and my father had died earlier; therefore I lacked school fees. Later on, a good samaritan took me to a pre-school teachers college, after which I got employed at a nursery school. In 2005 I left employment because they were not paying well and started selling utensils and materials. I currently I live in my own place in Langas.

My business deals with kitchen utensils and fabric materials, which I started in 2005. I was driven to do that business because I saw the need of women in the kitchen and also their liking for fashion. I decided to sell utensils and materials

Customers prefer my products because my prices are fair and I sell original products. I want to get to a point where I will be the manager of my own business and be the supplier of kitchenware and fabric materials in town.
