A loan of $1,050 helped to make and sell cassava flour.

Akou's story

Ms. A. Akou is 50-something, married, and the mother of four children, plus she has two others of her cousin's to support. Her main work involves selling cassava flour, gari, which is highly valued among food provisions. It requires a lot of work and effort. So, in order to satisfy the burgeoning demand of her customers, she's requesting financing to buy a vast field of cassava, so as to have a major reserve of raw materials. The profits derived from this business will be made available to destitute families, so they may survive.
