A loan of $5,000 helped purchase clothing for my shop, and material for student styling workshops I'd like to hold.

Ebony's story

I was born in Fairfax, VA, though I was raised for the most part in Detroit, MI. I worked numerous jobs before landing my dream job which matched my major of sales and economics.

At the University of Michigan-Dearborn, they prepared me academically with the skills and knowledge for such the role as an executive assistant. It was my dream sales position in the corporate world, but it demanded a better wardrobe than what I had in my closet. I ended up nearly breaking my bank account getting the right clothes for the job.

During a prestigious event supporting my executive, I was inappropriately dressed. My skirt was too short and I had open toe shoes. Not only did I embarrass myself but I was an embarrassment to the company I was representing.

That life changing experience inspired me to start Trish’s Garage, a fashion boutique that helps students, recent grads, and young professionals to put looks together on a budget.

I want to help college students who are making the transition from school to work without breaking the bank. Part of my business is consulting on the best clothing buys to make. The other part is providing my customer with affordable options.
