A loan of $5,000 helped install indoor/outdoor dog runs & promote my business through marketing to my target audience.

Rachael's story

I was born in Alaska, and moved to the east coast when I was 4. I lived in NH until I was 16. My father changed jobs and we all moved to VA, where I graduated high school. At 19, I enlisted in the Marine Corps and trained at Perris Island, SC for boot camp. After graduating basic, I moved to NC for Marine Combat Training, and eventually came to be stationed in 29 Palms, CA.

I used my VA loan to purchase my house at the age of 26. My home is situated on the northern outskirts of Moreno Valley, CA, less than 3 miles from Box Springs Mountain Park. I have over 1/2 acre of land that is fenced off and ready to be put to work as a dog boarding facility. There are 3 separate areas where pets may relax while their families are away. In the future I hope to install individual indoor outdoor dog runs that have automatic water and temperature control. Money raised from the Kiva website will go toward purchasing & installing the runs as well as advertising my business.
