A loan of $5,000 helped purchase the product needed to continue to grow the business rather than pay only for business-related things that can't generate revenue.

Heather's story

I grew up in Frederick County, Maryland in a happy family; the oldest of three children, with my biologist father and artist mother. Art was always my greatest interest and I majored in fine art at Maryland Institute, College of Art. I always knew that it might be difficult earning a living as an artist and was fully prepared to work in retail - which I loved - for the rest of my life to support my painting hobby. Ten years after graduating from college, I found myself living in Pittsburgh, married to a wonderful man, and the mother of two spunky girls, Olive and Marlowe (3.5 and 7 months). We took over an existing olive oil company. We've seen it grow twofold in the last almost two years and hope for it to expand further so that we can employ others in our community while continuing to bring high quality olive oils and other gourmet food products to Pittsburgh.
