A loan of $2,500 helped to buy equipment and product for initial recipe-development, shelf-stability tests and market testing.

Chris's story

My first memories are about food. My mother, who grew up in Thailand, came to America with little more than her skill and passion for cooking amazing food. She filled our home unforgettable smells and flavors. The impact was a lasting one. And when I studied literature in college, I grew more intrigued with telling a narrative, but with food instead of words. The belief being food feeds the mind as much as the body. My company, Proxy Foods, examines how we interact and enjoy a meal, an ingredient, even an aroma. Projects have included mobile food delivery systems and communal dinner series where theatricality and conviviality are the raison d'etre. Our ultimate goal--in addition to making really great food--is to bridge the gap between farmer, cook and consumer.
