A loan of $3,500 helped a member to buy more rice from the upcountry to sell.


Kasuku Group's story

Christopher C., 30, is married and has three children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years ago. He has a business selling rice from Kyela, which is upcountry, since 2001. He works daily from 8am until 6pm. He is able to earn a monthly profit of around $133. This will be Christopher’s first loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He wants to use this loan to expand his business by buying more rice from the same area. In the picture, Christopher is on the left in a white t-shirt. Christopher will share this loan with his loan group, Kasulu, which has a total of 18 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
