Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $500 helped to procure fresh fish and chicken.

Grace's story

Grace A. is a trader. She runs a cold store for her community, selling fresh fish and chicken. Her store is in her house. Grace supplies food vendors. She procures the goods from Accra. She works to help her husband provide financially for the family. Her husband works at the community hospital.
Grace is 29 years old. She is married and has given birth to three children--all sons. All of her children are currently in primary school. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in the busy fishing/commercial town of Mankessim, near Cape Coast, in the Central region of Ghana.
Grace has been in business for four years and wants a loan to procure goods in bulk. She is hoping to expand her business and give her children the best education she can afford.
