Khursheed Zulfiqar Masih Group's story

Khursheed baji is a 55-year-old married mother of two who has lived in the city of Lahore, Pakistan for the past 35 years. Her husband is named Z. M. and he runs a small hotel in the community, where he also sells Punjabi foods. He has 6 years of experience in this business. Khursheed baji helps her husband by cooking Punjabi foods. And the hotel is known for its delicious foods! Khursheed baji has a son who earns income as an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle) driver and her daughter currently studies in the 7th standard. Khursheed baji successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan) and now she is applying for another loan to replace the body of her son's auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle).

Khursheed baji is the leader for this group loan which includes three other women from her locality. The loan will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. Shamshad baji will use the loan to buy religious books for her book shop, Razia baji needs a loan to repair the engine of her vehicle (named “Shahzore”), and Irshad begum baji plans to buy a welding machine. The members of a group loan mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
