A loan helped to buy equipment for her cakes such as display cases, refrigerators, and supplies.

Mabel María's story

Mabel is a 57-year-old woman who is full of strength and vitality. She started her business as a form of self-therapy because of the difficult situation she was experiencing - the disappearance of one of her daughters. She was depressed at that time in her life and was looking for ways to keep her mind occupied and escape from that state of mind.

Over time her business became a restaurant which is open every day from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers a variety of meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner, fast foods, and barbecued foods. Mabel is applying for her first Kiva loan through Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo so she can buy equipment for her cakes such as display cases, refrigerators and supplies so she can offer these kinds of products.

Her future goal is to buy the space in which she is operating her business now, fix it up and continue providing well-being to her children.
