A loan helped a member to buy a group of pigs.

Santa Lucia Group's story

The Santa Lucia communal association is made up of eleven members, eight women and three men, the responsible mothers and fathers of ten children, all minors. They are from El Sauce, a place characterized by its production of dairy. They are hardworking and responsible people who want to improve themselves. They sadly were not able to go to school due to the lack fo economic resources, and now they fight day in and day out to get ahead in their businesses and offer their children the stability they deserve.

Maria is the coordinator, and her work is raising pigs. Her business is located in her home. The objective of the loan is to invest in working capital and stock her business with a group of pigs. The Santa Lucia communal association is grateful for the help that the Kiva investors offer to people of scarce resources and poor countries like Nicaragua, so that they may have a decent work environment.

In this group: Byron Antonio, Ana Cecilia, Maria Aurelia, Petrona Del Socorro, Mario Salome, Denia Isamara, Dominga Maribel, Elda Amalec
