A loan helped a member to purchase fertilizer and to cover cassava harvesting costs.

Sambath Group's story

Sambath is a 30-year-old married rice farmer with a small kid in her care who resides in the Kampong Cham Province in Cambodia. She has been cultivating cassava for more than nine years. Her husband is a 27-year-old farmer as well. Both of them can earn approximately $8 per day.

Sambath is pictured first from the right. As the group leader, she would like to request a loan as one of three members and she will use her share to purchase fertilizer and to cover cassava harvesting costs. This loan will help her have enough money to purchase fertilizer for cassava cultivation, so she will be able to gain better crops to support the family. In the future, she wants to expand her farming, build a bigger house and send her child to school.
