Confiance Group
In this Group: Kadi, Fatoumata , Kamba , Salimata , Kadia , Awa
The six members of the group Confiance are all married women who average 37 years of age and 4 children each. They live mainly in monogamous families in Ouayerma I, a district in Sikasso City (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They are collaborating with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to satisfy the needs of their customers and are now on their 8th solidarity loan. All the preceding loans were correctly repaid. The group members do a diversity of work, including selling mobile phone cards, ginger (for making local soft drinks), condiments, and grilled meat kebobs.

With this new loan, they intend to buy 25 mobile phone cards, one sack of sugar, two 100-kg sacks of ginger, three packages of condiments, ten liters of cooking oil, five kilos of meat, and five sacks of charcoal. Supplies are gotten at the grand marketplace of Sikasso City and in neighboring towns. The merchandise is sold, in mostly cash transaction, to customers composed of men and women at different marketplaces in the city and in the area.

The group members each envision realizing an average monthly profit of 12,500 franc CFA. A portion of the profits will put into savings, and the other portion will be invested in business. Their ambition is to increase their turnover, so as to satisfy their customers better.

Les six membres du groupe Confiance sont toutes des femmes mariées avec une moyenne d’âge de 37ans et 4 enfants. Elles vivent dans des familles monogames à Ouayerma I un des quartiers de la ville de Sikasso 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles collaborent avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle et sont à leur huitième prêt solidaire. Tous les prêts précédents ont été correctement remboursés. Elles mènent diverses activités qui sont entre autres la vente de cartes de crédit pour téléphones, de gingembre (pour la fabrication de boissons locales non alcoolisées), de condiments alimentaires et des brochettes de viande grillées.
Avec ce nouveau prêt, elles comptent acheter 25 cartes de crédit pour téléphones, 1 sac de sucre, 2 sacs de 100kg de gingembre, 3 colis de condiments alimentaires, 10 litres d’huile alimentaire, 5kg de viande , 5 sacs de charbon de bois.
Elles s’approvisionnent au grand marché de Sikasso ville et dans les localités avoisinantes. Les marchandises sont vendues dans les différents marchés de Sikasso et dans les quartiers à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes et la plupart au comptant.
Elles envisagent réaliser chacune un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 12.500 FCFA dont une partie sera utilisée en épargne et l’autre partie sera investie dans les activités.
Les femmes du groupe Confiance ambitionnent d’augmenter leur chiffre d’affaire pour mieux satisfaire leur clientèle.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
