Amor De Dios Group's story

The communal bank "Amor de Dios" [God's Love] is in its thirty-sixth loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Santiago II Regional Office. It is made up of eight members and is overseen by a board of directors, of which Olivia is the president. The businesses that the members of the communal bank work in are varied, among them are: butcher's shop, selling jackets, vests, shoes, blankets, food sales, clothing sales, transport services, selling artesanal handicrafts.

The loan which they are taking out will benefit the micro-entrepreneurs among whom Olivia is a member. She indicates that it her fifth year with Pro Mujer, she joined at her mother's invitation, who is a member of the institution. She currently has a business selling clothes; she explains that she learned this business from her mother some years ago.

The loan which she will take out now is to increase her capital to buy clothes wholesale. She will buy from the wholesalers in the city of El Alto and afterwards will sell the clothes in her small retail space. This form of work allows her to generate an income to support her family financially, as she is married and has seven children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replies that she likes getting together with her co-members and the benefits that the institution offers.
