Maria Esperanza's story

Mrs. Maria Esperanza M. Hernández is 36 years old and lives with her husband in the San Juan de la Concepción neighborhood. He works as a water-meter reader. They have two children: a fourteen-year-old girl and a twelve-year-old boy. The family has made plans to improve their standard of living. Since the age of six, she has worked as a farmer. She began to farm through her own efforts. The two biggest problems she faces are lack of financing and pests. With the loan she is going to buy fertilizers and consumables to improve cultivation and obtain better production.
