A loan of $500 helped to purchase more cassava to make "gari" to sell.

Victoria's story

Victoria A. is a forty-year-old woman, married with three children who are currently in school. For the past seven years Victoria has been producing "gari" which she supplies to her numerous customers in and around her community. "Gari" is a native food prepared from cassava, which is enjoyed by many Ghanaians. She says prices of cassava have gone up significantly and she needs the support of a loan to enable her to meet her production expenditure.

With the loan, Victoria wants to purchase more baskets of cassava, to produce more gari. She would be grateful for the assistance. Victoria is a member of a community group called "shining star" Trust Group. In this group, members guarantee for one another as social collateral to access the loan and support one another to repay the loan.
