A loan helped to buy farm implements.

Naomi's story

Naomi is a smallholder farmer practicing dairy, poultry and crop farming to make a living. Her husband is a also a farmer and together they have 10 children. She enjoys farming for it is her means of securing the basic necessities of life. In the Nandihills area of Kenya, where Naomi is from, most people depend on agriculture for a living (over 95% of the population).

Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in Nandihills now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Naomi is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through use of quality farm inputs. This will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family. Naomi wants to begin the fourth month of the year on a high note and on a good footing.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens and farming equipment.
