Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Maria Elena's story

Maria Elena M. H. is 44 years old and married. Maria has two kids, and both are in school. She has been running a grocery store for six years. It all started because she didn't have a job and needed to feed her family. Maria believes that with a loan, her business can get a little further ahead; she wants to have all the resources necessary for investing in her store. Maria decided to seek out a loan with the Leon Foundation 2000 (and its affiliated organizations), which will help her purchase products such as candy, soda, bread and juice. She hopes to offer better service, which will improve and increase her customer base.
