A loan of $500 helped to purchase alpaca meat.

Delia's story

Señora Delia is a member of the community bank, "Dios es Amor" (God is Love) in the district of Mazo-Cruz, in the province of Collao, in the department of Puno. She is 29, lives with her boyfriend, and has one son. She lives in the José Antonio neighborhood and completed high school. She has worked with Manuela Ramos for eight years. She started with a loan of 300 PEN, which allowed her to start her business of buying and selling alpacas and sheep. Currently she is requesting her ninth loan, which is for 1,500 PEN. It will be repaid in 5 months, and she will use it to buy alpaca and sheep meat, which she will sell at the markets in the area. This will let her increase her capital. She is thankful to Manuela Ramos for the confidence and support they offer to women so they can support their families financially. Her biggest dream is to purchase her own home. Right now she lives in her inlaws' house. What she likes most about her communal bank is the ease with which they are offered loans.
