A loan helped to trade in sheep, goats and chickens.

Lali's story

Lali is a 47-year-old married woman from the village of Khovle. She has a husband, a herdsman son, one unemployed son and a school-aged daughter. Her husband started a taxi business one month ago and gets approximately 500 GEL. The family has poor living conditions and requires additional income to satisfy even basic needs.

In the region there is a high unemployment rate, but self-employment helps inhabitants to make a living, so Lali decided to start a trading business with the loan. The local credit providers usually demand experience and some stable income from the borrowers. With the loan of 2000 GEL, she will trade in sheep, goats and chickens with her husband and generate significant income. They will sell them for increased prices in the open market and will have their own customers.

The family's living conditions will significantly improve, and the family will have enough income to access regular credit products available on the country’s capital market, in case of need.
