Sulemana's story

Sulemana M. is thirty-nine years old, but his face looks younger. He is married and a father with four children. He lives at Takroase, a mining community at Akim Oda, in the eastern region of Ghana. Sulemana is very resourceful and committed to his family, especially in the area of their education. He is a buyer and seller of gold and diamonds. He makes a living with this business and has worked in the field of mining for fifteen years. He has many suppliers in the village from whom he purchases the gold and the diamonds. Through the relationship he has with the suppliers, he always has stock to sell. He mostly deals with foreigners who come from abroad to buy his gold and diamonds.

Ghana is rich in natural resources. It is a fact that the quality of diamonds and gold from Ghana is rated as one of the best as compared to other countries. This has created increased demand from his buyers, but he is not able to meet those demands. He buys the gold and diamonds at high prices from the suppliers, but, because of the economic situation he now finds himself in, he is not able to buy more. He is requesting loan support to buy more gold and diamonds to supply his exclusive customers. He was thinking about forming a partnership so that he could buy more, but there are none to find. Sulemana has a diamond in his palm in this picture. He would be grateful for your support. He belongs to the village bank called Divine.
