A loan helped to buy more fish, meats, vegetables, soft drinks, sacks of rice and spices to restock and cook for her customers.

Emerilyn's story

Emerilyn is very thankful to Kiva for the loan granted to her in the amount of PHP 40,000, which she used to buy fish, meats, vegetables and spices for the menu, for the rental of the space and kitchen and dining utensils to start an eatery.

Today, Emerilyn’s eatery is turned into a small restaurant with a menu, a sari-sari store inside, and she bought a videoke machine for customers eating at night who wanted to sing. Her restaurant is open for 24 hours with two helpers from her community. Most importantly she is able to provide for her children.

Emerilyn wants to again borrow in the amount of PHP 100,000 to buy more fish, meats, vegetables, soft drinks, sacks of rice and spices to restock and cook for her customers. The additional capital will enable her to supply the growing demand of her customers, thus increasing her income. Emerilyn works hard to continuously improve her small restaurant, so she can save enough to buy a house for her family and continuously support the education of her children.
