Stellah's Group's story

Stellah, featured in the above picture, is representing her farming group formed by 10 farmers in Teso District, Kenya. She is 46 years old and a married mother of 6 children, and she is often described as a very hardworking individual.

Although Stellah has been a farmer for 7 years, she is new to One Acre Fund. She decided to join this year because she really wanted to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. Even though she is new to the program, Stellah wanted to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. With the profits earned from this season’s harvest, Stellah hopes to be able to send her children to school.

With this loan, the group will receive farming inputs to plant a total of 2.75 acres of land. They will also receive a total of 5 solar lights, as some of the farmers in the group will be purchasing a solar light as part of their loan package, even though Stellah decided not to.

In this group: Stellah, Berita, Caroline, Carolyne, Consolata, Florence, Glades, Joice, Judith, Respar

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
