Wastara Group's story

Mpenami is 26 years old, married, and has four children aged 12, 10, 8 and 6. Mpenami has been a bites (bread-like rolls) and porridge seller in the Melinne neighborhood of Zanzibar since the past two years. She currently earns an average monthly profit of US $70. She works at her business for seven hours daily.

She requests her first loan from BRAC Tanzania to buy more items to expand her business. She hopes that through this loan her profit will increase and she will be able to grow her business. Mpenami will be sharing this loan with her fellow group members, Hidaya and Maryam, who also have their own small business in Zanzibar.
