A loan of $575 helped to procure second-hand textiles.

Comfort's story

Comfort B. is 45 years old. She is married and has given birth to five children: one son and four daughters. She says some of her children have completed school and are working. Others are still in the junior high school and the primary school.

Comfort lives with her children and husband in a family house in a farming/commercial town called Achiase, near Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Her husband works at a sawmill company in their community. She is a trader. She trades in second-hand textiles – clothes for both sexes and also bed sheets.

She procures bales of textiles from Accra and sells in her community by hawking. Comfort says she also treks to other towns to sell on their market days. She has been in business for seven years and desires to expand her business. She is hoping to improve her standard of living and sponsor her children to higher levels of academia.
