A loan of $175 helped buy fishing materials.

Melesio's story

Melesio, 56, is a single father. His wife recently abandoned him, and she left him with their two youngest children.

He has a motor boat. Together with his brother-in-law he fishes in the Ucayali River. They sell their fish at the port, to resellers, or sometimes they have business orders that need large quantities to fill. He has been doing this for 30 years, and he does well.

Melesio also works cutting down wood-yielding trees. Through both activities he is able to get together enough money to sustain his family.

This is his first loan with MFP. He has observed that working with his community bank is beneficial because all of the members support each other. The loan is to buy fishing materials.
