Juana's story

JUANA GARCÍA A. belongs to the community bank “Las Margaritas”. Her home is located in Jr. Madre de Dios Nº 547, in the neighbourhood “El Arenal”, in the district of Callería, in the city of Pucallpa. She is 66 years old and is an independent merchant. Her husband is a pensioner. They have 8 children.

She has worked with Manuela Ramos for 4 years. The first loan she received was for S/ 300 Nuevos Soles. She used it to buy materials to work as a seamstress, work that she has done for many years, but because of pain in her legs she abandoned it and began working with selling soda pop and lingerie.

With this loan of S/2,000 Nuevos Soles, she would buy things to wear (clothing), lingerie, soda pop, sweets, and do maintenance on her son’s motorcar, who helps her to meet the household expenses.

She feels grateful to Manuela Ramos, because of the help of the loans to finance her expenses in difficult times.
