Sara's story

Sara T. D. belongs to the Community Bank "Madres Coraje". Her home is located in Jr. Dos de Mayo N. 834, approximately 5 blocks from the District Municipality of Yarinacocha, of the district with the same name. She is 65 years old. She has been a seamstress since she was 17 years old. She is a single mother and she managed to educate her 3 children through her business.

She has been working with Manuela Ramos (Kiva Field Partner) for 2 years. Her first loan was in the amount of S/300 nuevos soles, funds that she used towards the maintenace of her sewing machine to keep developing her small business. Currently she has created a store where she receives orders directly from customers, given that she has a young woman helping her with the small business, located in her home.

With this loan of S/1400 nuevos soles, she will invest in the maintenance and repair of her sewing maching and she will also purchase materials to make and design all types of clothing. She is very grateful to Manuela Ramos because she has never received a loan from any financial institution before. Manuela Ramos, without too much paper work, believed in her and motivates her to be responsible with her payments.
