Sorbeh Group's story

This is Mariama M., Issa K., Safiatu T., Fudia K. and Adijatu I.K A.. They named their group Sorbeh. This is the first loan these entrepreneurs are requesting from SMT/Kiva. Each of them is requesting a loan of 500,000 Sierra Leone Leones. With this loan, they will be able to increase the sizes and qualities of their businesses and consequently make better profit and improve on their standards of living.

Mariama (left) is the leader of this group. Mariama is forty-nine years of age. She was born in Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone. She is married and the two of them have three children together. One of their children is in college and the two are still in secondary schools. Mariama sells items like biscuits, lollipops, cigarettes, tins of milk, batteries, pencils etc. She has been in this business for seven years now.
