A loan of $650 helped to purchase raw materials for meal preparation.

Maria's story

Maria belongs to the "Virgen del Rosario" communal bank. She lives in the El Porvenir settlement, Bellavista District, San Martin Department. She is single, 42 years old, and the mother of 4 children, one of whom still depends on her economically. Motivated by her enterprising spirit, with her initial loan of 300 soles, she began her own business preparing and selling meals and soft drinks daily providing food for her customers with her customary charisma and good service. Currently, she continues with this enterprise which she undertakes from her own home. She is happy with her work and has been working with the communal bank for two years. With this 2000 sol loan, which she will repay in 6 months, she intends to purchase various brands of soft drinks in a variety of flavors and sizes as well as raw materials in bulk, such as rice, sugar, vegetables, live poultry, etc. for the preparation of her meals. A portion of the funds will be used to buy tables, chairs and accessories to offer still better service. She is very happy that she was able to raise her children alone and, thanks to Manuela Ramos who helped her quite a bit, she now has a business in which she herself manages all decisions regarding income and expenses.
