A loan of $325 helped increasing her merchandise.

Magna's story

Magna lives alone. She makes a living selling grain and food products that she processes with a simple mill or sends to be ground; she then sells her products in the outermost, rural parts of her town. On weekends she travels to the city of Lima to sell her products. She has maintained this work schedule for 13 years now. Her work has given her much satisfaction over the years because her profits provide her with all that she needs to support herself. Magna’s wish is to keep working so that she can set up a grocery store and thus be able to rest after so many years of hard physical labor. This is the fourth time that Magna has requested a loan from Kiva partner MFP. She is convinced that teamwork is very helpful for development, and it is for this reason that she encourages the rest of her colleagues at the communal bank to work together. Magna will use the money she is requesting to invest in purchasing more grain--sacks of corn and barley, among other products--so that she can grind them and prepare them for sale.
