Deysi Guadalupe's story

Mrs. Deysi Guadalupe F. R. D. Rodríguez is 36 years old and is the secretary of her community bank. She lives in Saucipe, in the Paijan district of the Ascope province, La Libertad department, Peru. She studied up until the first year of secondary school but was unable to continue her studies as her parents did not have the means to be able to educate her so she went to work. She has 3 children who are entirely dependent upon her. Deysi sells sausages and dairy products. She began by selling traditional shortbread (alfajores) then started selling small quantities of sausages and dairy products 5 years ago. Now she has lots of customers who buy her products; the business is very profitable and she is developing it in her own home. She invested the first loan of 300 Peruvian soles that she received from her community bank “Manos Unidas” in the purchase of dairy products and sausages. With the loan of 1200 soles, which she will repay within 6 months, she will buy dairy products and sausages to increase her capital. Deysi has a grand dream of buying in Trujillo and that her children will be professionals. She belongs to the Mothers club in her sector.
