Christine's Group's story

Christine, featured in the above picture, is representing her farming group formed by 15 farmers in Teso District, Kenya. She is 52 years old and is a married mother of 6 children, and she is often described as a very reliable person.

Although Christine has been a farmer for more than 30 years, she is new to One Acre Fund. She decided to join this year because she really wanted to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. Even though she is new to the program, Christine wanted to represent her group because she wants to help more farmers. With the profits earned from this season’s harvest, Christine hopes to be able to save more money for the future.

With this loan, the group will receive farming inputs to plant a total of 8.25 acres of land. They will also receive a total of 6 solar lights, as some of the farmers in the group will be purchasing a solar light as part of their loan package, although Christine decided not to.

In this group: Christine, Beatrice, Denis, Enos, Francis, Getrude, Gladys, Grace, Hellen, Llilian, Margaret, Mary, Pamela, Pasilisa, Simon

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
