A loan of $2,450 helped a member to increase pharmacy and clothing stock and pay school fees.


Jitahidi Msakuzi Group's story

Lucy A. N., age 30, is married with four children ages 14, 12, 7 and 4. She has a clothing and pharmacy businesses which she started two years ago at Msakuzi place. She works daily from 8am until 8pm. She is able to earn a monthly profit of around US$ 274.



This will be Lucy’s third loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to start her clothing business; she sells from door to door. Lucy has repaid the loans successfully. She hopes for a third loan to use as follows 100000/= for the pharmacy, 100000/= for clothing and 100000/= for school fees and incidentals.



Lucy will share this loan with her loan group, Jutahidi Msakuzi , which totals 15 members. The members of the group hold each other accountable in paying back their loans. In the picture, Lucy is in the middle in the yellow dress and yellow head ribbon.
