Sokkhan's story

Sokkhan is a 53-year-old married woman who lives in Sandol Village, Chongruk Commune in the Kong Pisei District of the Kampong Speu Province in Cambodia. She is the lovely mother of five children. Three of Sokkhan's children are married already and live outside her home, while the other two are still single. Both of her single children are a chefs at a hotel.

To make a living, Sokkhan and her husband work as farmers in a small rice field which is located somewhat far from their house. They have been farming rice for more than 20 years. Together, they can earn a net profit of $6 USD per day.

Sokkhan wants to improve her daily convenience by buying a motorbike for her family, but she cannot afford it with her current income. To make this possible, she is requesting a loan from Kiva through HKL to buy a motorbike to ride to her rice field. She hopes that this loan will also help her improve her family's standard of living. She would like to thank all lenders for their financial support.
