Oyuntulhuur's story

Oyuntulhuur Y. is the 44-year-old single mother of one. Her daughter Gantuya is 22 and a college student in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. Oyuntulhuur lives in a friend’s home in Arhanghay, one of the central Mongolian provinces.

She started her butcher business last year. She does not have a stall of her own and shares her sister’s butcher stall at the local market. When she started her butcher business, her working capital was 40,000 tugrugs ($33.00 USD). She works hard to improve her living condition and battles against poverty. As a result her working capital has increased to 350,000 tugrugs, and her living conditions have improved.

Oyuntulhuur has many dreams, particularly to own a plot of land to live on and to have her own butcher shop. She requests a loan to buy organs and a whole animal to divide into pieces for sale.
