Velina's story

Velina M. is a 69-year-old widow whose husband died 6 years ago. Previously Velina worked in a state company that manufactured socks and tights in Sliven. Four years ago she and her son bought a knitting machine and started their own business. Now she and her son have hired two employees to help in the workshop. Their knitted goods are sold on the biggest market in the town of Dimitrovgrad. Velina M. is asking for a loan of $1200 to buy yarn and thread.
