Joy's story

Joy is a female Ugandan who is 56 years old. She lives in Kira in the Nakawa division in the outskirts of Kampala. She is a widow who lost her husband 20 years ago and she has raised her children on her own. Her main business is soft drinks, which she vends in Kampala. From this, she earns money to support her family and take care of her daily expenses. She is applying for a loan of UGX 2,500,000 to buy stock of soda, fruit, and other beverages to increase her stock. Her biggest challenge is limited capital which hinders her from covering her orders from her customers. Her dream is to purchase a plot of land to put up at least a two-room house for her residence because she is currently staying with her married son.
