A loan of $475 helped a member to buy more food items for her business.

Jitahidini Group's story

Saumu has been a bites (chapati and maandazi--sweet fried breads) seller in the Darajabovu neighborhood of Zanzibar for 7 years. She currently earns an average monthly profit of US$ 50. Every day she works at her business for 12 hours.

She is requesting her second loan from BRAC Tanzania so that she can buy more food items for her business. She is hoping that through this loan, her profit will increase and she will be able to grow her business.

Saumu is 32 years old, married, and has a seventeen-year-old child. She will be sharing this loan with her fellow group member, Fatma, who has her own small business in Zanzibar.
