A loan helped to purchase different types of ready-made garments to expand her existing business.

Rama's story

Thirty-four-year-old Rama lives in Khagrabari, West Bengal with her husband and two daughters. Her elder daughter is studying in grade seven and the younger one is too small to go to school. Rama is an active hardworking woman who has been running her own micro-enterprise of ready-made garments for the last five years along with her husband. Besides her business, she gives private tuition to the children in her locality.

Rama’s husband buys a variety of clothing from the wholesale market and sells them in the neighborhood according to the demands of the customers. They sell ladies, gents and kids attire. Rama needs to expand the business to generate more income and to satisfy the demands of the customers. Thus, Rama applied for a loan from Kiva’s partner, BJS.

She plans to purchase different types of ready-made garments at the wholesale rate with the help of this loan. She hopes to earn more profit from her business and save money for her daughters’ education. Rama and her husband are thankful to Kiva and its field partner BJS for their kind help and support.
