Hamamata's story

Hamamata L. is 36 years old. She is divorced and the mother of two children; one has completed senior high and is awaiting his results whilst her last born is still in school.

Hamamata is resourceful and enterprising. She operates a local restaurant and sells local foods like "diewuo". Diewuo is prepared from powdered maize mixed with dried cassava powder taken with soup. It is enjoyed as breakfast and lunch and normally it is prepared by the Muslims who live in the Zongo communities in Ghana.

She has a strategic business location, giving her favorable sales. She needs the loan to enable her to inject additional working capital into the business to scale up production and increase her income level. With the loan, she wants to purchase more raw materials like maize powder, cassava powder, meat, fish, vegetables and firewood to facilitate her food production.
