A loan helped to pay for university fees.

Rosilah's story

Hello Kiva Lenders, meet 20 year old Rosilah, living with her family in Mathare North, Nairobi Kenya. She is the eighth born kid in a family of ten; five girls and five boys. With only the mother working as a janitor, maintaining her large family of humble backgrounds was really hard. Getting school fees was a challenge but her single parent tried her best and managed to see her through primary and secondary school with the help of governmental bursaries plus her little earnings.

Rosilah currently works at Digital Divide Data Kenya. DDD enables talented youth from low-income families to access professional opportunities, gain higher education, and earn lasting higher incomes (See below for more information). DDD offered a partial scholarship to register at Kenyatta University. However, more money is required to cover her tuition balance. Therefore, she is requesting for $500 to cover the fee deficit.

She wants to pursue her dreams of becoming a teacher by earning a Bachelor’s of Education Arts. With this degree, she will be able to use her knowledge and expertise to impact other students positively, uplift her family, support the needy people in the society, save for the future and gain confidence to tackle any challenges that may came across in future. Her dream of getting a degree may only be a reality with a KIVA loan. Thank you in Advance.
