A loan of $800 helped to repair her house and expand her business.

Nhem's story

Nhem S. is 44 years old and lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She earns a daily income of $8 selling fresh fish and pork in the city’s garment district. She started her business in early 2000. She is a good mother who cares for four children, two of whom are employed as a security guard and a garment worker.

To help support the family, S.'s husband (also pictured) drives a motorbike taxi. The family has faced difficult living conditions for a long time because their house is old and frequently needs repairs. S. is requesting a loan of $800. She will use half of the money to repair her house and the rest to expand her business.
