A loan of $650 helped to buy second-hand clothes.

Beatrice's story

Beatrice S. is thirty-five years old. She is married and has given birth to three children, two of whom are currently in school; one in senior high and the other in junior high schools. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in Aquase, a fishing community near Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.

Beatrice is a trader. She trades in second-hand textiles, including clothing for both men and women. She also sells bedsheets and other textile materials. She says she hawks (sells door-to-door) to sell her goods and treks to other markets to sell. Beatrice also sometimes sells at the market square in her community. Beatrice buys bales of textiles from wholesalers in the nearby towns.

She has been in business for five years and wants a loan to buy bales of textiles in bulk to increase her profit margin.
