Faustina

Ghana
Cape Coast, Ghana / Food Production/Sales

A loan of $500 helped procure raw materials in bulk.

Faustina's story

Faustina D. is thirty-five years old. She is a married mother of three children. All three of her children are currently in junior high or primary school. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in a fishing community called Aquase, near Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.

Faustina is a food vendor. She sells a local dish called ‘banku’ in her community. She prepares the food in her house and sells it on the street in the evenings. Banku is prepared from corn dough and served hot with soup. Faustina says she procures the raw materials such as maize, fish, and vegetables from the local market. She has been in this business for four years and wants a loan to procure the raw materials in bulk. She is hopeful to improve her standard of living and give her children the best education.
