A loan of $375 helped to buy ingredients.

Maria Reyna's story

Reyna began her business because of the lack of a secure job and because it was a way to earn income to sustain her children and support them in their studies. She is an only mother and this is why she wants for them to have better opportunities in life.

She started her business in February of 2003 because her family always asked her to make the food for family gatherings. Her nieces always told her that the tamales she made were very good and it was they who encouraged her to work in this business. They promised her that they would recommend her to their friends. That was how she began the business. Little by little, her orders increased and since then things have gone very well for her.

She needs a loan of MXN $5,000 to buy ingredients such as corn meal dough, leaves, meat, vegetables, oil, and disposable plates and utensils, etc. These will allow her to make the tamales and supply the requests from her customers that are enjoying the Holy Week holiday, when people like to order vegetable and seafood tamales.
