A loan helped for biogas construction.

Eunice Nyambura's story

Eunice is a member of Focus Women's Group based in the Gatukuyu area of Thika in Central Kenya. She is married with five children; three are still in school and two work as casual laborers.

Eunice is a dairy farmer with three cows, which produce about 10 liters of milk per day. She sells the milk for about $0.50 per liter, and with this income she is able to feed her family and pay her children's school fees.

She wants to construct a biogas plant on her farm to offset her fuel expenses. Every day she spends about $1 on kerosene for lighting and $0.50 on charcoal and firewood for cooking. With a biogas source, she will spare this money and use it to expand her farming business.

From the biogas she will also produce slurry, which she will use on her land to increase production. With increased production she can improve her family's food security and income.
