Mrs. Aissa Kane is a 37-year-old single mother of one child. She lives with her parents in a large traditional family in the Ségou district of Sokala (4th administrative region of the Republic of Mali).
Aissa Kane left school in the 9th grade of fundamental class (Malian educational system) to work alongside her mother selling condiments, clothing and shoes. After several years of training, she branched out to conduct her own business activity and started to buy and sell potatoes, clothing, shoes, and school supplies at the start of the school year. She is highly skilled, and has enjoyed great notoriety and reputation over the past 12 years.
In order to bolster her working capital and increase her profits, she turned to the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso six and a half years ago. She received three group loans and four individual loans that were all correctly repaid. She is now seeking her 5th individual loan to buy 30 sacks of potatoes. She buys her stock in Sikasso and sells for cash or credit to a clientele consisting of both men and women.
With this loan, she expects to earn a monthly profit of 100,000 CFAF, which will allow her to provide for her mother and her son, and to contribute to social events. Her goal is to build a house of her own.
